At Global Business Services (GBS), we are the internal Deutsche Post DHL services division that provides support services to all Group divisions. We cluster key services functions such as Finance, IT, Consulting, Legal, Risk & Insurance, Procurement, Real Estate and Human Resources and employ approximately 20,000 staff across five continents. Overall Role Purpose
Providing legal support for all DPDHL Business Units in Indonesia (including Timor Leste)
Key Tasks & Activities
Provides comprehensive ‘one stop shop’ of legal services to all Express & Logistics business units and other internal clients in the country
Ensures all business units in the country comply with laws and regulations relating to business unit in country
Implements global legal strategy at a country level in order to ensure effective use of common tools and consistent reporting
Supports other corporate functions by delivering the legal service component necessary in overall attainment of their goals
Advises on country legal risk mitigation strategies
Selects, briefs and manages external legal counsel necessary for provision of legal services to business units
Represents the Company in negotiations with partners, customers, suppliers, governmental and regulatory authorities
Provides information, reports and confirmation to auditors, bankers and suppliers required in relation to any local business unit’s operations
Represents and defends the Company’s interests in any litigation or other adversarial proceedings
Provides general business legal advice and more specialized Express and Logistics advice
Drafts and reviews contracts and other documents in relation to any transaction, project or other matter in which the Counsel is directly involved
Procures legal advice and external legal service in any area of law outside Counsel’s area of specialization/competence
Attends management and project meetings as and when needed to provide legal advice or understand the business context in which such advice and services are to be delivered
Selects appropriately qualified external legal resources and controls cost either through negotiation of letter of engagement/volume discount arrangement or on other ad hoc arrangements
Provides quarterly litigation & legal reports to line manager
Proactively advises country management on any development in the law applicable to country and business unit and contribute to the design and delivery of training courses on legal topics relevant to the business
Skills Requirements / Qualifications
Good law degree from a top local/foreign university
2-4 years of legal practice in commercial law firm or in‑house legal department
Qualified to advise on Indonesian laws
Commercial pragmatism, ability to apply legal knowledge and expertise into business environment;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia;
Good understanding of DHL’s express and logistics business activities;
Independent and confident with strong analytical skills
